History of Mulund Centre:
The Mulund Centre’s inception dates back to 14th October 1982. Much earlier to this, some Mulund devotees were attending classes in the Thane Centre of the Mission and had started Balavihar and other activities in Mulund from 1978 onwards. Swami Purushottamanandaji, the then head of Chinmaya Mission-Western Region had come to Mulund to give Bhagawad Geeta talks and inauguration of a Balavihar. He was pleased with the fast growing activities and recommended to Pujya Gurudev Swami Chinmayananda that a new Mission centre could be started in Mulund and thus the Mulund Centre made a humble beginning with the blessings of Pujya Gurudev. In 1984, Pujya Gurudev’s Gita Gnana Yagna was organized – the first of its kind in the suburb followed by two Yagnas in 1987 and 1990.
Mulund Centre had its first own premises at Jayanti Apartments and Br. Sarvatma Chaitanya (later Swami Sacchidananda) was the first Acharya. Activities grew further. Other resident Acharyas who have helped in guiding and shaping the activities and growth of the Centre over the years were Br. Uttam Chaitanya (now Swami Sadananda), Acharya Varshaji, Acharya Vivekji who served 2 stints, Brni Dhruti Chaitanya (now Swamini Nischalananda) and currently, Br. Nileshji.
The Centre shifted to Aroto House, P.K.Road in 2003 where Lord Chinmaya Shreeram with Sita Maiyya, Laxmanji, Hanumanji and Lord Ganesha are the presiding deities.
