About the Annual Geeta Chanting Competition
Bhagawad Geeta is not just a sacred scripture, but a practical guide and manual to “Art of Man-Making & Science of Life”. It is the divine teachings of the Lord to Arjuna, the Pandava prince in the battlefield of Kurukshetra and through Arjuna, to each one of us to face the challenges of life successfully and lead an intelligent and fulfilling life. Innumerable successful personalities, down the centuries, have derived inspiration from it.
Inspired and initiated by Param Pujya Gurudev Swami Chinmayanandaji, the Chinmaya Mission has been organizing the Geeta Chanting Competition for school children throughout the world, year after year. The purpose of this competition is to introduce students to this great cultural heritage of our nation, which in due course, as they grow up to become responsible citizens, will inspire them to understand the philosophy of inspired, dedicated action and Universal Brotherhood and Oneness through this Song-Divine. Gurudev’s slogan was “Chant-Learn-Study-Live”.
Our Mulund Centre also organizes the Geeta Chanting Competition every year for school children. Our trained sevaks and sevikas teach the Bhagawad Geeta to children in the schools and Balavihars in Mulund. The competition is conducted at two levels – Preliminary and Final. Participation certificates are given to all the participating children and prizes and certificates of merit to the prize-winners to encourage them.
